This week has been a bit of a blur. We were away last weekend to an amazing little place called Arumvale just outside Stellenbosch and the kids and I are off to Knysna tomorrow to have a holiday while my husband opens a Seattle at one of the Caltex’s there (whoop whoop!)
So maybe “blur” is the wrong word, it’s just been cut short.
Yesterday was my best friend’s birthday and I spent the afternoon hanging out and her house being sure to moderate my champagne intake and eat the cheese without the crackers.
Then this morning she loaded up 5 of her closest friends and we headed out to Maison wine farm outside Franschoek and had lunch their popular restaurant The Kitchen. Oh my shattered nerves that was a gastronomical treat of note! I joined in the wine tasting which added a carb cheat to my list and just couldn’t eat my foie gras platter without the delicately crispy melba toast. For anyone looking to treat themselves to fine dining amongst the vines then The Kitchen at Maison should definitely be on your list.
Unfortunately it won’t be the best week for exercise – Grace was ill so I couldn’t make my (re-scheduled) Body Tec session on Monday and nor could I make my gym session today. I’m sure that having the kiddies with me full time on my cousin’s farm in Knysna will give me tons of cause to run around so I’m sure I’ll be able to tick ‘exercise’ off the list by Sunday.
Last weekend I happily took my Coconut Lindt ‘dark’ chocolate slab with me as my substitute pudding and had a few blocks in all innocence. However after a kind comment on the blog that I found when I got back, I realised that the Coconut (Orange, Wasabi, Chilli etc) “dark” Lindt is only 40 something % dark and not the required 70% so I’ve been a good girl and have bought Lindt’s 70% Dark Chocolate slab to nibble on over this little holiday.
For those of you who live in S.A. I hope you have a great long weekend ahead. And for those of you who aren’t locals, we’d love you to come visit – South Africa is a place in a million!
